Stoke City Loving Cup Presented to Football League Members, 1937

The Loving Cup was made by famous potters Spode-Copeland and was presented to First Division clubs to commemorate the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in May 1937. The President of Stoke City, Sir Francis Joseph, commissioned the piece and it is numbered 16 out of limited edition of just 30, of which only four are known to still exist. There is a tradition that the Directors toast the reigning monarch and drink from the cup.
